The upcoming Plug-in Hybrid cars in 2026 are set to transform India’s auto market, offering a mix of electric driving and petrol backup, ideal for both daily use and long trips. In this article, we cover the key plug-in hybrid cars expected to launch in 2026.
1. JSW Motor Jetour T2
The new JSW Motor Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, mated with two electric motors and a massive battery. This configuration can generate up to 221 bhp of power and 390 Nm of torque, but according to various reports, it could deliver more power in its higher variants.

Now, in terms of features, the Jetour T2 SUV will, reportedly, be equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera. It will have several airbags, an electronic stability program, and driver assist systems. It will also include upscale features such as a 50W wireless charger and smart connectivity, making it a feature-packed premium SUV.
The Jetour T2 is expected to cost around ₹38-44 lakh in India, making it a luxury SUV. It should have an electric range of 130-140 km for the electric-only mode, making it very efficient for commuting use. It is set to be launched around late 2026 (before Diwali).

2. MG Project 520
The MG Project 520, based on the Wuling Starlight 560 platform, will be powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, mated with an electric motor and battery. This will offer 194 bhp of power and 230 Nm of torque, with priority being fuel economy rather than performance.

Expectations for features include a luxurious interior with a 12.8-inch touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile charging, and automatic air conditioning. It is likely to include airbags, ABS and EBD, ADAS (variant specific), and a rigid chassis, making it a great family car.
The price is estimated to be between ₹25 and ₹32 lakh, making it a highly affordable PHEV in India. A highly selling point is the long electric-only range of 125 km, with a total range of 1100 km. It will be launched by the end of 2026.
3. BYD Sealion 6
Along with an electric-only drivetrain, the BYD Sealion 6 will be equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine, electric motor, and battery, with various international variants to choose from. The standard model will offer up to 217 bhp of power, and the more advanced AWD model will offer more than 323 bhp of power for performance and efficiency.

The Sealion 6 will come with a top-notch cabin with a 15.6-inch rotating touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and more, including ventilated & heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10-speaker audio system. The safety features will include Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and driver assistance, ensuring that it will be one of the safest PHEVs in its segment.
The price is likely to be around ₹30-40 lakh and provides an electric range of 80-90 km with a total range over 1000 km. The estimated launch in India will be by late 2026.
4. BYD Leopard 8
The BYD Leopard 8 is a sporty plug-in hybrid SUV equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled petrol engine and two electric motors. This combination is set to provide 738 bhp of power and 760 Nm of torque, making it one of the strongest hybrid SUVs anticipated in India.

In terms of features, it will be a tech-laden premium SUV offering features such as adaptive suspension, high-end cabin materials, large infotainment screens, and driving modes oriented towards off-road capability. Features like advanced ADAS, multiple airbags, off-road modes, and electronic stability measures will ensure safety and comfort.

The Leopard 8 is likely to be priced at ₹60 lakh+ for luxury SUVs. It will have an electric range of 120-125 km and rapid charging capability. It will be launched in India by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
