June 30, 2026

The upcoming Mahindra Vision S is back on Indian roads again, and once again, the latest spy photos show a number of production-ready features under all the camouflage. The Mahindra Vision S is expected to be the next-generation compact SUV with petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric power, based on the all-new NU_IQ modular platform. In fact, a recent test mule also indicates that Mahindra is tweaking the exterior lighting and body panels before the official launch.

The latest spy video released by Mahindra reveals two Mahindra Vision S prototypes.

Recently, an Instagram page called Game of Alcohol has posted a spy video on Mahindra Vision S, revealing an interesting development for the upcoming SUV. For the first time, two different Vision S test mules can be seen driving together.

The first prototype has been seen many times before and is the well-known test mule that has been seen with circular LED headlamps. But the second prototype that closely trailed the first prototype is what makes this video stand out. It looks rather different from the first, with a characteristic signature inverted L-shaped LED headlight/DRL.

This variation has led to speculations that Mahindra might be experimenting with two different lighting set-ups for the Vision S. Possibly the company is testing various designs for each variant, and possibly the circular headlights are representing the testing unit, and the L-shaped lights are the final variant design.

For now, Mahindra hasn’t revealed the rationale behind the two different headlamp designs. So it’s too soon to judge that one is the ICE version and the other is the EV. The available footage indicates that both prototypes are ICE cars featuring open front grills, suggesting the possibilities of test vehicles.

An inverted L-shaped lighting signature would make the Vision S much closer to the road presence of the futuristic one in Mahindra’s concept model and make the SUV look more distinct.

2027 Mahindra Vision S: A Design You’ll Fall in Love With

The test vehicle is still covered in camouflage, but the following hints can be found. The tall stance, flat bonnet, muscular wheel arches, and high ground clearance continue to be true to the Vision S concept that was first presented at Mahindra’s Freedom NU event.

The new spy shots also show production-ready LED headlamps, replacing the temporary circular light fittings used on earlier prototypes. Also likely to be added to the final production model of the SUV are flush-fitting door handles, chunky body cladding, roof rails, and a back-mounted spare wheel, which will give it a rugged lifestyle akin to larger off-roaders.

Cabin Experience and Feature Highlights:

The new spy photos don’t provide a complete picture of the interior of the new Mahindra Vision S, leaving out a lot of detail. But with the lineup of vehicles that Mahindra has recently introduced, including the XUV 3XO, XUV700, BE 6, and XEV 9e, it’s clear that Mahindra is keen on presenting futuristic interior and cabin designs. While the Vision S is likely to be a premium compact SUV, it will undoubtedly have to adopt a number of the high-tech features that are seen in Mahindra’s recent vehicles.

These features are not official but have been taken from industry expectations and are based on the Mahindra product strategy. The list of gear may differ slightly among variants, with the most up-to-date gear usually also found on the high-specification models. Assuming a consistent trend, Mahindra will be introducing a system that features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument console on higher trims, a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless smartphone charger, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, next-generation AdrenoX connected car tech, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a split-folding rear seat with a rear armrest, and several storage spaces and practical cup holder options.

Please note that this is not the confirmed list of features. Mahindra has not officially announced the interior or specifications of the Vision S. Most of these are likely to be available but may not be available in all trims, and some may be added, dropped, or modified prior to the production car being released.

Engine, Performance And The Platform Behind It

The most impressive feature of the all-new Mahindra Vision S is its all-new NU_IQ modular platform designed to accommodate all the powertrain variants. Mahindra has not officially stated its engine specifications yet, but the platform has been built to accommodate petrol, diesel, hybrid, and full electric powertrains, and the Vision S is a future-ready SUV. The production model is supposed to start with Mahindra’s known turbo-petrol and diesel engines, with hybrid and all-electric versions coming in later, as part of the production model’s life cycle.

Depending on variant and market, buyers can also enjoy a selection of manual and automatic transmissions, with some of the higher variants featuring all-wheel-drive (AWD) to enhance off-road driving. But these powertrain specifications are only reported by industry and as announced by Mahindra as part of their platform strategy, and final details will only be dropped nearer the official launch of the vehicle.

Advanced Safety Features Explained

Mahindra has not revealed anything official about the safety package for the upcoming Vision S, but the SUV is anticipated to retain the brand’s emphasis on vehicle safety and sophisticated driver-aid systems. With Mahindra’s recent lineup, the Vision S will probably have six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.

Advanced driver assistance technology, including adaptive cruise assist, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency brake and traffic sign recognition, traffic sign information, and forward collision warning for higher variants, is available. But it is noteworthy that the features are likely in line with Mahindra’s newest products and industry reports. Some safety equipment and ADAS features can change depending on the variant and are only determined in the final phases of preparation closer to the official launch of the Vision S.

2027 Mahindra Vision S Expected Price & Launch

However, Mahindra has not yet officially declared the price and launch date of the upcoming Mahindra Vision S. But industry estimates indicate the SUVs can be offered for sale in the range of ₹10.50 lakh to ₹17.50 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variants. The Vision S is expected to go on sale worldwide from the middle of 2026 and likely to launch in India in 2027, as it is one of the first production-spec models to be rolled out based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform. The actual price, expected release date, and options will be finalized nearer to the official unveiling.

Should you wait for the Mahindra Vision S?

For those considering purchasing a compact SUV in 2027 and seeking icons of bold design with cutting-edge technology, the Mahindra Vision S is the name that could be worth their wait. The car’s rugged design, multi-energy platform, humongous expected premium features, and futuristic architecture make it one of the most awaited Mahindra SUVs of the times. On the other hand, if someone is hoping to purchase a vehicle right away, they might end up obtaining the better deal offered.

My View Regarding Mahindra Vision S:

With the latest spy shots in hand, the 2027 Mahindra Vision S is making its last significant strides with development. The LED lighting is expected to be production-ready, the design is anticipated to be rugged and tough, and the SUV’s versatility is hinted at by its base Mahindra NU_IQ platform; all indications are that the SUV will be a practical, technology-packed, and lifestyle-fueled vehicle. With competitive pricing, the Vision S will be one of the best bets in India’s compact SUV market by 2027.
