The Upcoming Honda City 2026 Test mule has also been spotted, implying a new update for Honda’s popular mid-size sedan. The silhouette is similar but there are noticeable changes to the design of the camouflaged test vehicle, new features and perhaps even improvements to the interior, all discreet features which are designed to keep the City competitive against other sedans in the market such as the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
Exterior changes are expected on Honda City 2026 Facelift (Based On Spy Shots):
Honda is set to bring a new facelift to the 2017 Honda City, which is ultimately going to be a major redesign project for the car, but for now, the test mule demos show that it wants to go about the project in a restrained but stylish manner. Although it retains its graceful lines, the sedan features some obvious enhancements that suggest it’s much fresher, and better, looking its best ever.
Sharper Front Fascia

The most dramatic appearance of changes will be somewhere in the front area. Spy images reveal a revamped nose reminiscent of the more modern global Hondas such as the Prelude. Its rounded design seems to have been updated to resemble a bit more than what we’ve seen as upright and assertive lines, making the sedan look more aggressive and closer to the road.
New Grille Design

The most prominent modification of the test mule is the new front spoiler. The face-loft looks to have horizontally barbed inserts instead of the current honeycomb-type design. It might give a more detailed and high-end front appearance for the sedan. Chrome detailing will also be updated for a neon look.
Updated LED Headlamps & DRLs
While the overall look of the headlamp is the same, it is likely that it has been given a new makeover internals-wise. Spy images indicate that Honda will keep the top mounted LED DRLs but add new LED components to create a more elaborate signature.
Redesigned Front Bumper

There is a sculpted front bumper on the camouflaged version of the car, which is not seen on the existing version. Clad in air dam detailing and the lower bumper detailing could be somewhat modified to give the sedan a sportier look. Honda could refine the fog lamp housing area for a more neat and tidy look as well.
New Alloy Wheel Design

Minimal side profile changes are seen with the facelifted City, yet it’s to be expected that it’ll be allotted recently reengineered dual tone alloy wheels. Spy shot photos show more of a rugged, machine-cut style wheel pattern which appears more modern than the current wheel pattern.
Tyre Profile:
For the upcoming facelifted Honda City, it seems that similar tyres will be used as on the current Honda City based on the variant. The lower and mid-spec engines will likely have the 15″ wheels with the 185/60 R15 tyres and the higher trims may standardly carry the 16″ wheels equipped with the 185/55 R16 tyre profile..
Rear Styling Tweaks

The taillamps could be redesigned to have new LED graphics, and the bumper could be refined with new reflector positioning. The existing horizontal reflector configuration can be replaced with vertical reflectors on the side edges of the bumper. Currently, the reflectors are in a horizontal position, but vertical reflectors can be installed on the sides of the bumper edge.
Expected Interior And Features:
The interior of the next-generation Honda City 2026 hasn’t been unveiled, though we could expect significant updates in the cabin, particularly in terms of increased comfort, technology and luxury. The interior layout might be familiar, but Honda will presumably give the sedan a new look and feel with new materials, fresh trims and premium interior.
A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an improved UI and quicker connectivity options, would be one of the biggest upgrades. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should be continued and a remotely-operated set of connected car features could also be expected from Honda.
The City is also expected to feature a fully-digital instrument cluster or a revised version of the semi-digital instrument cluster, which will feature more refined graphics. Honda may update the look of the steering wheel and also introduce new soft-touch materials to the dashboard and door panels to improve the cabin’s luxury feel.
Comfort features will also be expected to be enhanced. Rear sunshades and upgraded ambient lighting are optional on higher variants along with electrically adjusted front seat, sunroof, ventilated front seats and wireless phone charging.
Expected Safety Features:
This new Honda City 2026 will continue Honda’s heavy focus on comfort for passengers and advanced driver assistance technology. Honda’s standard safety equipment for most variants will reportedly include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, rear parking sensors, rear view camera and ISOFIX child seat mounts as well as a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Higher variants of this sedan will likely include Honda Sensing ADAS technology with such features as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning and auto high beam assist. These systems work to enhance highway driving safety and mitigate driver fatigue.
The Honda may also be packing in features like enhanced parking assistance systems and a 360-degree camera in the top-spec versions, as a way of increasing the Honda City’s competitiveness in the premium sedan class. These enhancements will also provide better performance and more superior body stiffness and interior insulation to provide greater safety for occupants and overall driving confidence.
Engine Details and Performance Of Honda City 2026:
The new Honda City 2026 will be unchanged in terms of mechanicals and will still be offered in the existing petrol and hybrid transmissions.
The standard petrol version will likely rely on the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which delivers about 121 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. It will probably come standard equipped with a CVT automatic transmission, as well as a 6-speed manual transmission.
Honda is also likely to continue to have the City e:HEV, the strong 1.5 hybrid engine. With this Hybrid setup, it will deliver a power of 126 ps at 6400 rpm and a torque of 253 nm at 3000 rpm. The hybrid model is expected to keep the e-CVT transmission, which makes it one of the most efficient sedans in its segment.
Expected Variants Of Honda City 2026:
New Honda City is likely to be offered with the same version mix, but features might be rearranged in each version. The sedan could come as an SV, V, VX or ZX variant, and Honda is expected to keep the potent hybrid sedan as an e:HEV ZX.
The base model will carry core features such as LED headlamps, touchscreen infotainment, multiple airbags, ESC and basic connected car applications. The standard V and VX models might also include a sunroof, wireless Bluetooth, alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and enhanced interior trims.
It would be easy to guess that the most significant changes will be made to the top-spec ZX, which will include Honda Sensing ADAS, 360degree camera, powered driver seat and ventilated seats with premium plastic upholstery and advanced ambient light control.
It’s expected that Honda will also keep its manual gearbox and CVT variant for both petrol and hybrid variants, while the hybrid e:HEV will be offered only with the e-CVT gearbox.
Launch Date & Expected Price Of Honda City 2026:
New Honda ZR-V SUV and the updated Honda City are also likely to roll out in India together at an official launch on May 22, 2026. This timeframe has been recently confirmed by several sources, indicating that Honda has already decided the time for this launch based on a revised product strategy in India.
Depending on the price, the standard petrol versions of the facelifted City are expected to be priced from around ₹12.5 lakh (ex-showroom) all the way up to nearly ₹16.5 lakh in the top-spec variants. The new features and upgrades in technology will likely come with some price increase for Honda.
The Honda City e:HEV (hybrid) models are likely to remain premium variants of the model and will be priced in the range likely to start from ₹20.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The hybrid hybrid will be oriented primarily to high-tech, high fuel efficiency buyers.
