With the Indian adventure motorcycle space getting hotter by the day, Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch a premium ADV in the form of the much-awaited Hero XPulse 421 ADV. Despite having undertaken multiple test rounds over varied terrain (including the infamous roads of Ladakh), expect Hero’s most powerful, ever-feature-packed adventure bike to be revealed with the upcoming motorcycle.

The XPulse series has gained quite a fan following in India for being the most hardcore off-road motorcycle one can buy at an attractive price point. Still, plenty of enthusiasts have long been waiting for a bigger and stronger bike suitable for long-distance touring or high-speed highway riding. It intends to serve as that bridge, scoring a direct hit on the already-established Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure.

The biggest feature expected in the upcoming motorcycle is its new 421cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Although final specifications were not revealed by Hero, reports suggest an output somewhere closer to the region of 40 bhp and strong torque figures for both touring and off-road-based riding. Expect the motor to be mated with a six-speed gearbox, making for better highway cruising than the smaller XPulse models can manage.
Indian bike manufacturer Hero is working on an all-new platform for its next adventure 2-wheeler, the XPulse 421 judging by spy images. It looks larger, bulkier, and more adventure-touring focused compared to the XPulse 200. In addition, its high stance and long wheelbase provide a relaxed riding position for long distances.

Further, the design seems to be a much more premium implementation than what you get with the current XPulse lineup. Upfront you can see a large windscreen, durable LED headlamp setup, sculpted fuel tank, and rally-style beak. The test bike was also seen with protective body panels and luggage-mounting provisions, underscoring its touring orientation.

The XPulse 421, however, still has off-road capability at its core. The motorcycle will have an upside-down fork in front, a rear monoshock suspension, and long suspension travel to cover rough terrain easily. A 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel configuration is also rumored, a combination that tends to be favored by adventure riders for enhanced stability and ability to cross obstacles. Expect high ground clearance and two bolt holes too.

Another section where things can be changed is with XPulse 421 in the technology segment. In a recent spy shot, the upcoming Xpulse 421 features A large TFT instrument cluster that may support smartphone connectivity, navigation support, and ride information. We also expect features like ride modes, switchable dual-channel ABS, traction control, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB charging. With these additions, the XPulse 421 would be one of the most tech-laden motorcycles in its segment.
Going by the speculation, the Hero XPulse 421 ADV is expected to be priced at ₹2.5 lakh – ₹3 lakh (ex-showroom). Should Hero keep the pricing competitive while delivering premium hardware and features, there could be appealing options for both seasoned adventure riders and a potential upgrade over smaller-capacity motorcycles.

The XPulse 421 will be directly pitched against bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure, along with any other mid-capacity ADV models that are set to launch in the near future. These competitors have all been in the market for at least a few months now, and though they no doubt offer interesting competition, Hero’s extensive service network coupled with its value-for-money approach could be just what the XPulse 421 needs to get an edge over at least one of its competitors.
Given the latest test sightings and advancement progress, the motorcycle looks to be close to production-ready. Hero MotoCorp has not formally announced a launch date, but industry reports suggest that the bike could be revealed in the next few months.
Final Verdict
According to a recent spy shot, the Hero XPulse 421 ADV could be one of the most significant motorcycle launches from Hero MotoCorp in years. With a 421cc engine, adventure-ready hardware, updated tech, and competitive pricing, it checks all of the boxes when it comes to touring and trail-hitting enthusiasts. If Hero executes well enough, the XPulse 421 might be an absolute front-runner for the title of India’s best-selling adventure motorcycle and perhaps most powerful two-wheeler on sale under essentially any brand.
