Kia India has officially teased two new electrified vehicles for India, with a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) on the cards. The company posted a vague hint of the new project on its social media with the phrases “HEV” and “BEV,” with the caption “The future is knocking. One clue. More than one possibility.” Kia has not announced the models to come, but it is believed that the teaser is for the Kia Syros EV and Kia Sorento Hybrid. Both models are anticipated to go into production later in this month.

The battery-electric version is anticipated to be the next Kia Syros EV. It will likely also use its battery and electric powertrain system with the Hyundai Creta Electric, with two different battery pack variants providing a claimed driving range of between 390 km and 473 km, depending on the variant. The Syros EV will also have 6 airbags as standard, a panoramic display setup, connected car technology, and fast charging as standard. It will be Kia’s most budget-friendly electric SUV available in India and will be on par with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and MG Windsor EV.

In the hybrid segment, Kia is likely to launch its new hybrid SUV, the Kia Sorento Hybrid. As for the hybrid segment, Kia is expected to launch its first strong hybrid SUV in India, the Kia Sorento Hybrid. This three-row top-end SUV will probably be mated to a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol engine, which will combine with the electric motor to improve fuel economy and cut emissions compared with traditional petrol SUVs. The Sorento Hybrid may be able to offer premium options from Toyota, Jeep, and Hyundai and introduce more green vehicles to Kia’s offerings in India.
Kia has been continually improving its EV strategy in India with the EV6, EV9, and Carens Clavis EV. The inclusion of the Syros EV and Sorento Hybrid would address the demand from customers for 100% electric cars and for fuel-efficient hybrid technology. According to industry reports, both models may go on sale and release in the second half of July 2026, with further details regarding the launch to be announced shortly.
Kia’s decision to launch both BEV and HEV models in India could give it a competitive edge in the expanding segments of clean mobility. The company’s strategy to go for both BEV and HEV in the Indian market could bolster its position in the burgeoning areas of clean mobility vehicles. Further details, such as specifications, pricing, and availability dates, are likely to be released in the following weeks.
