During the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, MG unveiled two concept vehicles in their futuristic form, that is, the MG GO! and the MG Cyber X, embodying the vision of MG’s future EV vehicles. Owned by SAIC Motor, the British marque showcased its own goals, to offer vehicles beyond the limitations of an affordable range, at one of the world’s largest automotive festivals.
The MG GO! The concept is a compact electric hatchback inspired by classic MG sports cars but reimagined for the electric era. It features a rounded, retro-inspired silhouette, circular LED headlamps, short overhangs, and a clean, minimalist design. MG has confirmed the GO! The concept is more than just a show car, with a production version expected to arrive in 2027.
Along with MG GO, MG has also launched the Cyber X Concept, a high-end electric SUV that showcases what it plans to do in the future with an EV. The SUV has a muscular stance, full-bred LED headlamps and door lights, large alloy wheels, and an advanced, high-tech interior that is likely to include the next generation of connectivity features and advanced driver assistance systems.
What to Expect from the MG GO! Electric Hatchback
The concept is influenced by some of the iconic models in the brand’s history, such as the MG ZR, MG Metro Turbo, MG B GT, etc., reflecting the classic British style in a modern electric vehicle design. It is rounded with LED headlamps, offers a functional five-door hatchback, and has stocky, flatted wheel arches for an athletic look. It will have a dynamically styled roof-mounted spoiler, large aerodynamic alloy wheels, and a slew of other attachments that will draw some attention. Clean and neat body surfaces round out the futuristic theme, resulting in a compact electric hatchback that dives in between past and present styles.
Being built on the brand’s newest electric vehicle platform family, the production version is expected to be produced on MG’s E3 electric architecture, industry reports indicate. This specific EV platform aims at achieving maximum utilization of space and performance on the platform, as well as enhancing overall platform efficiency. It is expected to also provide improved handling and higher charging speeds of the vehicle and greater energy efficiency, making the hatchback more convenient and fun to drive.
Although the MG hasn’t made an official announcement about the battery in the production version, industry reports indicate the battery may be the same as that found in the MG4 Urban. The lineup is likely to feature a lower-capacity 41.9 kWh battery and one of higher capacity, the 52.8 kWh battery pack, to meet the needs of customers with a greater requirement for range. With the electric hatchback, depending on the type, WLTP certificates authorize a driving range of up to 450 km, allotting the vehicle to the competitiveness of the compact-segment EV market for both short and long trips.
What to Expect from Cyber X. Electric SUV
For the Cyber X, MG hasn’t given any details on the technicals, such as battery strength, motor setup, or performance stats. Given its status as the flagship electric SUV concept car for the brand, however, it must be expected that it offers a high-powered all-electric drive system. The release of a production version is expected to include a dual motor all-wheel drive (AWD), which promises rapid acceleration. It will likely include a long-range battery pack as well, providing a potential driving range of over 600 km (WLTP), which will allow for extended driving distances. It is still a possibility until MG officially confirms the specs for the production.
The technical details of the Cyber X, such as the battery capacity, motor configuration, and performance figures, have yet to be unveiled by MG. The production version may be equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) system, which would provide rapid acceleration and improved traction. For intercity travel, it will probably come with a long-range battery pack and a greater driving range of more than 600 km (WLTP).
