The much awaited Honda ADV160, an adventure driven maxi-scooter, the company is projected to go head to head with India’s booming premium scooter market, where adventure oriented maxi-scooters like Yamaha, Hero and DYT are already gaining popularity. Patent applications filed in India in recent times seem to indicate that the Japanese manufacturer is laying the foundation for an entry, but the company hasn’t officially confirmed.
A sharp, muscular design is continued around the front of the vehicle, including a tall, adjustable windscreen and a unique dual-LED headlamp system for increased visibility and road authority. Its adventure-scooter look is enhanced by its body lines, the angular-shaped panels and a beak-shaped front section.

On the side profile it oozes power with its body cladding, stepped seat and raised riding position, all of which add to the touring appeal of the ADV160. Sporty alloy wheels treat the scooter to a brace of modern wheels, adding to its rugged bucker appearance, as does the high-mounted handlebar.

Its sleek LED taillight at the back and the small tail area overall lend a contemporary and elegant touch. In general, the ADV160’s perfect example of the practical aspects of a maxi-scooter combined with the aesthetic stylistic aspects of an adventure motorcycle, forging it within the segment of the most outstanding scooters out there.
In front the scooter is equipped with a 31 mm telescopic fork that offers 5.1 inches of travel, ensuring maximum shock absorption and stability on rough surfaces. To the back, it is equipped with upgraded Showa twin dollies of 4.0 inches travel each to provide it with a comfortable and controlled ride on long drives.
In terms of braking, a 240 mm front disc brake coupled with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and a 130 mm rear drum brake system offers confidence and safety during sudden brake application and sharp corners.

Further enhancing the adventure-moving DNA of the scooter, it’s powered by a 14-inch wheel fitted with an 110/80-section tyre that provides stability with a nice touch of agility. A wider 13-inch serving a 130/70 tyre at the rear provides greater grip and traction in both cornering and accelerating situations.
A 26.5 degree rake angle and 3.4 inch trail help to create a chassis that offers predictable handling and a strong response between the wheels and the rim. With a kerb weight of 133 kg (294 lbs), Honda ADV 160 is easy to handle in traffic and still has some feel upon the ground when running at speed. A 8.1-litre fuel tank adds to its practicality, providing plenty of range for use in a daily commute, or longer weekend outings without a need for repeat fuel stops.

Technology-wise, the Honda ADV160 sold overseas is provided with various high-end attributes that could make it an appealing choice for Indian riders. Global variants also offer a 5-inch TFT instrument pack which supports Honda Road Sync connectivity, allowing the rider to control music, recall a call into the unit and input their turn-by-turn navigation data via a smartphone connection. Convenient and safe features include a Honda Smart Key system featuring a keyless ignition, a USB Type-C charging port, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and a fully digital display.

Engine wise, Honda ADV160 features a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine with 157cc capacity, designed to provide a harmonious combination of power and efficiency. This engine produces 11.8 Kw of power at 8500 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm, thanks to 60.0 mm and 55.5 mm bore and stroke, respectively, plus a high 12.0:1 compression ratio. A SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) system, and four valves, are fitted into the scooter, and enhance the airflow and combustion, making the riding experience more engaging. The 28 mm throttle body, coupled with Honda’s state-of-the-art PGM-FI fuel-injection system, is responsible for fuel delivery, making sure the throttle is responsive accurately and delivering better fuel economy.
While the Honda ADV160 is yet to be formally announced with its price and launch date, sources in the industry have suggested that the bike might launch in India sometime in 2026 with an ex-showroom price tag between ₹1.30 lakh to ₹1.60 lakh.
With its rugged looks, high-tech amenities, space to boot, and an excellent touring ride, the Honda ADV160 has the potential to compete with the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160 if it is released in India at an attractive price.
